What is a web site?A web site is essentially an on line version of your business. It is not an end in itself - it is a means to an end - and that end is making your business more profitable. In its simplest form a web site is like an electronic brochure. It has a front page designed to get your attention and to read inside, a page describing your business, one or two pages giving some details about the products or services supplied by your business, perhaps another page with some information about key personnel and a contact form to enable potential customers to make a formal enquiry. It may also include a page with links to other related web sites. Many small businesses may not progress much beyond that. For others, however, the site might be expanded to include an online store, take bookings or do simulation of custom - built products. The key to designing a good web site is understanding the business and its customers - and we have many years of practical business experience that enables us to quickly and effectively build a site that will work for you.

What are hyperlinks? A key feature of the internet are hyperlinks. They enable the reader to navigate around your site and to easily access relevant information on other sites without you having to duplicate that info on your site. Wherever you see a piece of text underlined you can left-click this with your mouse and it will take you there. Often the words “click here for more info” will be used or a button or something similar will be used with the words included on it. |
|
Did you know … research shows that the average web reader will decide in the first 30 seconds whether they will continue on to explore your site? So if your front page is loaded with fancy graphics etc it can seem to take forever to load, and most readers will go somewhere else. |

Attention grabbers ... are used to draw the reader into your site but, like graphics and animation, they need to be used sparingly. |
